Foundations of Jungian Sandplay Therapy

Friday- 6 pm to 9 pm, Saturday- 9 am to 5 pm, and Sunday- 9am to noon

Join us to learn the theoretical foundations and practical applications of Jungian sandplay therapy with children and adults. Through lecture, experiential activities and compelling case studies students will have the opportunity to connect on a deep level to this work and to integrate concepts. Students who complete this course will earn 12 CE’s (NASW and APA) and 12 training hours toward credentialing as a sandplay therapist.

Course objectives:

  • Describe the key tenets of sandplay therapy as founded by Dora Kalff.
  • Distinguish sandplay therapy from other play therapy methods.
  • Explore the dynamics of the “free and protected” therapeutic space, co-transference and therapeutic presence in sandplay.
  • Identify fundamental concepts in Jungian personality theory (e.g., shadow, Self, individuation, etc.) and their applications in sandplay therapy.
  • Describe how symbols, archetypes, and the transcendent function promote healing in sandplay therapy.
  • Identify stages of psychological development in children and adults, and recognize the process of growth as it unfolds in a series of sandplay images.
  • Gain skills to set up a sandplay collection and begin clinical practice of sandplay therapy.
  • Participate in experiential art and sandplay activities to explore, practice and integrate concepts.

Cost: $275 per person

CE’s:  12 CE’s awarded-  APA and HI-NASW
