Foundations of Jungian Sandplay- Live Webinar Series!

The Sandplay Therapists of Hawai’i are pleased to offer this introductory, yet contemporary course  covering the theoretical foundations and practical applications of Jungian sandplay therapy with children and adults in the context of this world crisis and the changing environment of psychotherapy practice. Through online instruction, experiential activities and illustrative case studies you will have the opportunity to connect on a deep level to this work and to integrate concepts. Together we will explore what it might mean to be a sandplay therapist in 2020 and beyond.

Dates:            Four Fridays- April 24, May 1, May 8 and May 22, 2020

Time: Each module will be 9am to noon- Hawai`i time / Noon to 3 pm Pacific

Reduced Cost: $245 non-members, $185 STH/STA Members, $150 students    (must register for whole series, no partial registrations or refunds for missed   sessions, although all people who register will receive handouts)

12 CE’s: pending through APT and NASW-HI (accepted for Social Workers,                              Counselors and MFT’s, check with your State Board to verify)

Course objectives: 

  1. Describe the key tenets of sandplay therapy as founded by Dora Kalff.
  2. Distinguish sandplay therapy from other play therapy methods.
  3. Explore the dynamics of the “free and protected” therapeutic space, cotransference and therapeutic presence in sandplay… including implications for telehealth practice.
  4. Identify fundamental concepts in Jungian personality theory (e.g., shadow, Self, individuation, etc.) and their applications in sandplay therapy.
  5. Describe how symbols, archetypes, and the transcendent function promote healing in sandplay therapy.
  6. Identify stages of psychological development in children and adults, and recognize the process of growth as it unfolds in a series of sandplay images.
  7. Gain skills to set up a sandplay collection and begin clinical practice of sandplay therapy.
  8. Review ethical guidelines specific to the practice of sandplay therapy.
  9. Participate in experiential art and sandplay activities to explore, practice and integrate concepts.
