Evidence Base of Sandplay Therapy- STA “Tool Kit” Series
June 25, 2021 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
Come learn about the latest research in sandplay therapy! This is a one-hour workshop and dialog on the evidence base of sandplay therapy. It is part of the 2021 Sandplay Therapists of America “Tool Kit” series. REGISTER HERE!
Description:
Is sandplay therapy an effective treatment? If so, who benefits from sandplay? Who does not? Although it can be difficult to capture the essence of an unconscious process through research, there is a substantial and growing body of research demonstrating the efficacy and effectiveness of sandplay therapy in the treatment of children and adults with a wide variety of clinical issues. The research comes from many countries and includes case studies, qualitative, quantitative and mixed method designs.
Therapists are charged with using evidence-based practice to guide and inform their treatment. Evidence-based practice (EBP) is a process in which the practitioner combines well-researched interventions (such as empirically-validated treatments) with clinical experience, ethics, client preferences, and culture to guide and inform the delivery of treatments and services.
In this workshop, participants will:
- Identify the evidence base for sandplay therapy in the treatment of children and adults with various clinical disorders including mood disorders, trauma, grief/loss, addictions, ADHD, autism, and more.
- Apply available evidence to guide and inform the use of sandplay therapy.
- Identify three ways to expand our research base in sandplay therapy.
