Cowrie Shell
Kerri Kahapea, LCSW will lead a symbol study and experiential activity that guides participants through a multi-layered understanding of the cowrie shell.
Kerri states, “The cowrie shell is more than something you acquire for your shell collection. The cowrie appears in Hawaiian culture and cultures from around the world, representing everything beyond the horizon of what is visible and cognizant. Symbols and associations are ever evolving. My journey with the cowrie shell is an evolving vessel that taught me how to transcend fear, find courage, and be at peace for Being. I look forward to sharing this symbol and learning what this symbol might mean to you.”
What is Sandplay “Talk Story”?
• A regularly scheduled gathering for interactive learning about sandplay therapy as developed by Dora Kalff
• Group exploration of selected topics in sandplay such as myth, symbols, archetypes, and Jungian personality theory
• An opportunity to earn training hours toward certification as a sandplay therapist
• A way to strengthen our sandplay community on the Big Island
