Brief Description: This course will provide an overview of the research and clinical applications of Jungian sandplay therapy (children and adults) in the treatment of mood disorders, trauma, addiction, and other psychopathology.
The symbol of the mountain will be highlighted, along with a neuropsychological perspective on how sandplay heals. Concepts will be elucidated through lecture, experiential activities, and case studies.
- Identify five tenets of Jungian sandplay therapy.
- Review the current evidence base for sandplay therapy with a variety of clinical populations (children and adult).
- Describe three possible functions or meanings of the archetype of the mountain as it appears sandplay therapy.
- Participate in experiential art and sandplay activities to explore, practice and integrate concepts.
